This 6-day safari is built around Tanzania’s most exciting seasonal wildlife spectacle, the Great Migration in the Ndutu region (December to March). Starting in Arusha, guests explore Tarangire’s elephant country before heading into the southern Serengeti for immersive game drives in Ndutu, where vast herds and active predators create incredible wildlife action. The safari concludes with a full-day descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a world-famous natural sanctuary with high wildlife density and strong Big Five potential, before returning to Arusha for departure.
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a Nomiles safari guide will be waiting to greet you. Your guide will then escort you to your hotel in Arusha for some rest. Time permitting, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Arusha and its local market.
Following breakfast, you will be driven to Tarangire National Park for a day of game driving and exploration. This park is renowned for its iconic baobab-dotted landscape, its authentic sense of wilderness, and its massive elephant herds. The dry riverbed, present for most of the year, provides exceptional and unique photographic opportunities year-round.
Today, your journey takes you across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards the Ndutu region in the southern part of Serengeti National Park. From December to March, this area is home to the Great Migration, offering a unique opportunity to witness vast herds of animals as they follow the rains on their long and perilous journey to survive the drought. You will spend your days observing the incredible wildlife of the Ndutu area, so be sure to have your cameras ready!

Today in Ndutu on your full day game, you can choose your own safari schedule. Opt for a full-day game drive, leaving at 8:00 AM with a packed lunch and returning at 5:30 PM. Alternatively, you can split your day with an early morning drive at 6:20 AM, a midday break for rest, and a hot lunch at the lodge, followed by an afternoon drive from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Make sure to rest well for the adventures ahead.
Prepare for an unforgettable day as we drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater for a day of exploration. You will be surrounded by the stunning scenery of the dormant volcano and its lush environment. The crater is renowned for its incredible wildlife density, offering a fantastic chance to see the “Big Five” (elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, and rhinos), as well as the 30,000 other animals and countless birds that call this remarkable place home.
After a memorable week observing the Great Migration and the wildlife of the Ngorongoro Crater, today’s itinerary includes your transfer back to Arusha. Along the route, you will have the option to enrich your experience with a visit to a local village and a Maasai boma before proceeding to the airport for your departure.
